How I lost 3kg/6.6lbs in 30 days

Posted by Rathana on September 8, 2013

If you want to lose weight, then you are not alone. Low-carb diets, replacing meals with protein shakes, going to the gym – I’ve tried a lot of things and used to be very motivated in order to lose some weight. Losing more than 1kg/2.2lbs seemed to be impossible for me to achieve. It just stuck at the same level and mostly ended up being frustrated/disappointed.

Helpful Weight Loss Gadget: MyFitnessPal

Every now and then I’ve heard about helpful gadgets or apps when it comes to fitness or losing weight, but I didn’t really care about testing and didn’t take a closer look at them until two months ago when I stumbled across this app called MyFitnessPal. It’s a free calorie counter and diet plan, which tracks your caloric intake each day. I was thinking, ‘Why not, let’s give it a try …’ And now I’m so glad I decided to use it – as a matter of fact, I’m using it every day! Because it works very well for me.

Getting Started On Achieving Your Goal

How to start using MyFitnessPal: You can choose whether to register online (website) or via the app. If you are a lucky smartphone owner I’d recommend to download the app – available for iOS, Android & Windows Mobile – for an easy & quick tracking on the go. After registering you need to fill out your measurements (e.g. height, current weight, age …), daily activities at work, exercising/workout plan and your personal goal weight & your projected weight loss per week.

Based on your stated data this little app tells you how many calories you can eat a day to achieve your goal weight. And it will tell you along with how much calories you have left or how much you went over. This app also makes finding your food in their data base very quick & easy by either typing it in the search bar or scanning the barcode. Another option is, to enter your calories manually. You can also add your own recipes or ingredients – that’s why you’ll find almost everything in their system because it is all user based. So, it’s pretty good to look up the calories on another source to make sure they are right.

Keep Tracking For Success

Overall, I really like the idea of this app and it is easy to use – no matter where you are. You definitely have to be disciplined tracking everything what you have put into your mouth – this is a must, otherwise it won’t work. Staying on task is the number one problem people report when they start using the app. Without effort you can’t see any changes. Never mind: After tracking your food for a few weeks you’ll get used to it. What I’ve experienced is that once you see positive results, you do want to carry on. What I also like about MyFitnessPal is that you can connect with a community of people who can also help you each day, giving pointers and encouragement to help keep you on track.

Now, go try it out for yourself and add me today! Good luck.
